Ranbi Is Growing Up Fast!
Our youngest Bornean Orangutan, Ranbi, is growing up! Watch as he explores, swings, and climbs with boundless curiosity …
Did you know? Young orangutans stay with their mothers until they are around 7 years old; because of this long learning curve, orangutans have the longest birth interval of any land mammal, reproducing only every 7-9 years.

    I know probably no one will see my comment But I actually just applied at my local zoo about a month ago and I’ve been going through the interview process. Long story short I have my third interview coming up on Tuesday for a maintenance labor position. I don’t have any background in animal care or any college degrees I do, however, have extensive knowledge of the construction industry and a welding certification Anyways, I’m just so excited I might be able to work at a zoo someday🤞 There are so many avenues that one can take within this industry that’s limitless I really hope I get the job. It would be a dream.😎 Oh and also one of my hobbies is to learn as much as I can about different types of animals and plants…I have about 10 different encyclopedia on animals and plants and prehistoric animals. It’s all just so interesting.

    As you can see Asiatic lions in captivity grow as large as biggest South African lions. Asiatic lions or indian lions used to occupy Europe too and we do find evidences from MP, india that they could very well be the biggest subspecies of lion. Their size in wild was dropped due to less prey availability and less population, though they are growing now.

      @thotslayer4949 Місяць тому

      Also Barbary lions were descendants from Asiatic lions and Asiatic lions according to hunting records were really big. So to say Barbary lions were bigger is false. 😊

    As a past volunteer and employee of the Lincoln Park Zoo, I was blessed by being able to visit the takin whenever. They became one of my two favorite LPZ animals along with the snow leopards. Feel a bit stressed? Need a peaceful break? Visit with takin. Totally zen! There were babies too and they just loved butting heads in play. They are a real “WOW”!

    Thank you for a very informative interview. Just about to start a new job and I’m so excited. I agree with volunteering, I started with NT, did my RHS and got a few more tickets. I have trouble with names as I’m dyslexic too. Didn’t get full marks on plant ID in group interview but my research , passion and talking to other employees and volunteers on Interview tour, won me the job. Good luck to all those working in Zoo Horticulture.

    So happy yall were able to answer my Exact question!! I live in SW Georgia, USA..We used to run an animal, primarily dog rescue, but have had people bring us babies deer, Screech owl, cats, etc.. we have a HUGE Oak tree, possibly 150yrs old which is near one of the dog pens. At approx 10pm every night that dog's food bowl is covered in slugs (w/o shells haha) the apparently love Purina dog chow as well as the Pedigree wet canned food mixed it!!😂 In the backyard is a cat, and a young Opossum.. the slugs Love, Love the cats leftover Friskie treats, esp the Lobster Mac n Chs flavor, but are very happy to eat the other flavors! I always "used to joke" that I'd keep putting that flavor, lobster, on top of the BBQ, where the slugs hang out at night, because one day if food is scarce, we at least cld eat broiled lobster, garlic, and lemon flavored Slugs!! Reason I commented "used to" is because the Opossum has taken to eat Almost All of the slugs, and the Friskie treats!! Thanks for your most interesting channel!!

    Thank you for this video, i just bump into it trying to understand the difference btw snail and slug. I see people in UK call a slug what we would call a snail. If i get you right snails CANNOT DETACH FROM THEIR SHELLS WHILE SLUGS CAN?
